Geography is a popular subject with the Humanities Faculty, housed in two demountable classrooms separate from the main building of the school. Both classrooms are well equipped. A broad range of topics is studied, with a balance between human and physical geography units of work. In KS3, the time allocation is 1.5 hours per week and in KS4, this rises to 2.5 hours per week.
In KS3, the National Curriculum is followed. The KS4 GCSE scheme follows AQA syllabus A scheme. This qualification has three final written exam papers, with each exam being between 1 ½ and 1 ¾ hours’ duration.
From September 2017, year 9 will begin the GCSE course in September to allow plenty of time to cover the content.

In RE the aim is to encourage the pupils in
- developing questioning and enquiry skills when considering religions and various different aspects of belief
- self-understanding and reflection
- communication and sharing of ideas
Year 7 pupils have been looking at various explanations and representations of Creation and have been encouraged to consider their own beliefs.
Pupils in Year 8 have been examining the mysteries of the events marked by the Christmas celebrations, considering the relevance to the 21st Century and looking at the work of charities such as Crisis at Christmas.
In Year 9 pupils have been reflecting on the journey to adulthood, looking at how significant events along the way are celebrated and how different religions mark adult commitment to a religion.
