ofsted parent view

Earlier this year we consulted with parents, stakeholders and staff to hear their views on proposals to restructure Early Help services and the concept of family hubs. Family hubs are venues for delivering services to children and young people aged 0-25, with a focus on working with the most vulnerable families.  The views we gathered have helped to shape the proposals and have informed a second phase of the consultation.
We propose that Children’s Centre services are delivered from six key buildings instead of the existing 26 buildings, namely: The Centre – Oswestry; Richmond House – Shrewsbury; Crowmoor Centre – Shrewsbury; Rockspring Centre in Ludlow, Whitchurch and Bridgnorth that are yet to be decided.
Under these proposals 20 current Children’s Centre buildings would no longer be required and so these will either be used to deliver the expansion of the 2/3/4 year old child care offer, or used by schools who will support the delivery of early childhood services.  Services provided by Shropshire Council’s partners will also continue as before.
There will be a 6-week consultation with the general public, this will include an on line questionnaire which will go live on Tuesday 29th May 2018, and consultation events across the county which are being held in the affected Children’s Centres and in other venues.  These will be held at different times of the day to reach as many people as possible.
We would like to gather as many views and suggestions as possible so please promote the consultation events to parents and carers, children and young people and encourage them to get involved.
From the 29th May 2018, the consultation questionnaire will be on this website We will let you know as soon as it is live.
